SL0 #2 Describe strategies used to promote health, safety, and nutrition of children and adults in early childhood settings.
Before you observe, please be sure you have read Chapters 5 and 6 in your textbook and some important information about feeding and eating found in the article: Ellyn Satter’s Division of Responsibility in Feeding. (Links to an external site.) In addition, click on the link under Child Feeding Ages and Stages that describes the age group you are observing (either 11-36 months Feeding Your Toddler or 3-8 years Feeding Your Preschool/Early School Age Child) and read the related information. IF you will be observing a meal time in a center where you work, you may not observe while you are working. Please observe at a time when your only task will be observation. Please arrive at least 20 minutes prior to the scheduled meal time so that you can observe the transition from play/activity time to the meal.
You are not expected to visit a child care center to complete this assignment. You can watch the videos above to address what the assignment needs you to assess.
If you are currently working in a child care setting, feel free to observe children within your care. Follow the same assignment guidelines if you are doing an observation outside of the videos I provided.
