On the surface, this thought paper is about the relationship between method of note-taking and academic performance and the relationship between quality of handwriting and intelligence. More to the point, however, it is about evaluating psychological research.
First, listen to the first twenty minutes of this “Freakonomics” podcast called “Who Needs Handwriting?” (The rest of the podcast is quite interesting too, but you only need to listen to the first twenty minutes for the purpose of this assignment.)

Identify three comments from the first ten minutes of the podcast that relate to three important elements of evaluating research effectively. You may summarize the comment very briefly or use a direct quotation; if you do the latter, include a time marker in parentheses (e.g., 3:15 – 3:30). Then explain how each comment highlights an important element of evaluating research.
Next, briefly describe the recent research of Drs. Mueller and Oppenheimer. Explain the overall purpose of the research; identify the hypothesis(es) of their studies; briefly describe the methods they used and the findings of each study. More generally, what are overall conclusions of their research? What about limitations? And why are the findings relevant? Finally, how has learning about their research influenced your thinking on the topic they investigated?
