o Prompt: Describe the importance of and your approach to managing capacity and demand. In your response, try to answer the following not as separate questions but as one cohesive response to describe your understanding of and approach to capacity
planning and demand.
• Describe what the strategies are for matching capacity to demand.
• Why is it important to come up with this strategy?
• Which strategy will you use?
• How will you go about understanding what your capacity is?
• How will you go about understanding what your demand is?
NOTE: Please make sure that you include a minimum of 2 APA references to your initial discussion post And biblical reference

Also, consider waiting times for different access points to your organization: your website, calling your company, emailing your company, social media, and other access points.

Prompt: Let’s consider the economics of waiting. The economic cost of waiting can be viewed from two perspectives. For your organization, the cost of keeping an employee (i.e., an internal customer) waiting can be measured by unproductive wages. For external customers, the cost of waiting is the forgone alternative use of that time. In a competitive market, excessive waiting can lead to lost sales (Bordoloi, p. 95). Sometimes the perception of waiting is more important to the customer than the actual time spent waiting, suggesting that innovative ways should be found to reduce the negative aspects of waiting. Describe what this looks like in your industry and organization. What will you do today to reduce or eliminate this waiting, whether it is physical waiting or the perception of waiting? Also, consider waiting times for different access points to your organization: your website, calling your company, emailing your company, social media, and other access points. How will you address waiting in each of these areas?

Impacts the quality of the service experience.

Prompt: Complete a Strategic and Operational Analysis of your Organization – Part III: Unlike products stored in warehouses for future consumption, a service is an intangible personal experience that cannot be transferred from one person to
another. Instead, a service is produced and consumed simultaneously (Bordoloi, p. 301). Whenever demand for a service falls short of the capacity to serve, the results are idle servers and facilities. Further, the variability in service demand is quite pronounced, and, in fact, our culture and habits contribute to these fluctuations (Bordoloi, p. 301). There are three strategies for capacity management: (1) level capacity (marketing-oriented strategies such as price incentives), which helps to smooth customer demand, (2) chase demand (operations-oriented strategies such as
work shift scheduling) which matches changing levels of customer demand and (3) yield management which uses sophisticated real-time information systems to maximize revenue (Bordoloi, p. 301). Using Chapter 11 (pp. 301-320) as a guide and its associated examples, develop a strategy and system/process for managing capacity
and demand within your organization. Before you begin, review this article by The
Systems Thinker https://thesystemsthinker.com/systems-thinking-what-why-whenwhere-and-how/ to help you think about the purpose and benefit of designing and
implementing systems within your Strategic and Operational plan.
The capacity planning decision involves a trade-off between the cost of providing a
service and the cost or inconvenience of customer waiting (Bordoloi, p. 301).
Capacity planning is a challenge for service firms because of the open system nature
of service operations and, thus, the inability to create a steady flow of activity to use
capacity fully (Bordoloi, p. 301). The capacity decision is complicated further
because customers are participants in the service process, and the level of congestion
impacts the quality of the service experience. Capacity decisions in services have
strategic importance based on the time horizon in question. Failure to plan for short term capacity needs, such as staffing for the lunch hour, can generate customers for the competition (Bordoloi, p. 301). On the other hand, forecasting is the process of making predictions on past/present data and through trend analysis. When used together, the organization can better predict the demand and plan accordingly. Using
Chapters 13 and 14 (pp. 357-418) as a guide and example, develop a Capacity Plan and a Forecasting Demand for Services in your organization. You may want to consider researching tools and techniques outside of the textbook for this assignment.
In MBA-667, we did some forecasting from a financial perspective, but what does this look like from all areas of your organization?
Include your perspective of operations management in the modern economy and how
a Christian worldview affects organizational decision-making. How might a Christian worldview be used to assist in the strategic and operational analysis discussed in this paper?
o Requirements: This is the continuation of the development of a Strategic and Operational Analysis for your organization. The Strategic Analysis is a piece of your final deliverable which is to complete a Strategic and Operational Analysis that identifies your organization’s competitive environment, how your organization will be organized to operate (processes, metrics, quality, capacity) within this environment
and how you will allocate resources to meet the demands of this environment. This assignment is a continuation of the Strategic and Operational Analysis that you created in Unit 2 and continued in Unit 4. This assignment will include an additional 4-6 pages of content (required Cover Page, Executive Summary, and APA References Section not included in this page count), which includes the tools listed above and
your explanation of what these tools mean for your organization.

you will describe different evaluation methods for a healthcare quality improvement initiative, justify this method after its initial launch date, and discuss how evaluation methods for this initiative should change over time. By successfully completing this assignment, you will gain the knowledge and skills required to complete a portion of your project due later in this course.
For the purposes of this assignment, imagine that you are employed in the quality department of a hospital. Your hospital recently implemented an ongoing professional practice evaluation (OPPE) using criteria specific to The Joint Commission medical staff standard. The Joint Commission (E-dition) standard that is applied during the OPPE is:
Introduction to Standard MS.08.01.03 Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation
The ongoing professional practice evaluation allows the organization to identify professional practice trends that impact on quality of care and patient safety. Such identification may require intervention by the organized medical staff. The criteria used in the ongoing professional practice evaluation may include the following:
Review of operative and other clinical procedure(s) performed and their outcomes
Pattern of blood and pharmaceutical usage (obtain from laboratory and pharmacy directors, respectively)
Requests for tests and procedures
Length of stay patterns
Morbidity and mortality data
Practitioner’s use of consultants
Other relevant criteria as determined by the organized medical staff
The information used in the ongoing professional practice evaluation may be acquired through the following:
Periodic chart review
Direct observation
Monitoring of diagnostic and treatment techniques
Discussion with other individuals involved in the care of each patient. including consulting physicians, assistants at surgery, and nursing and administrative personnel
As a result of the OPPE process, it was found that two credentialed providers, two urology surgeons specifically, have been found to be deficient on the OPPE in the area of infections: both surgeons’ post-operative urosurgery patients have been experiencing antibiotic-resistant urinary tract infections. Not only does this impact the quality of the care per the standards, but it can also impact the social marketing of the hospital, increase the costs of care, increase patient length of stay, and decrease reimbursement.
Therefore, your task is to recommend an evaluation method for 3, 6, and 12 months intended to evaluate the reduction in infection rates as part of a quality improvement initiative. Then, you will need to justify your evaluation method and why the method(s) should be employed after the initiative launch. Lastly, you will discuss how this evaluation method should change over time to accurately assess the initiative over time. As you complete this assignment, reflect on the following: How do you address the urinary tract infection rates in periods of 3, 6, and 12 months, and how will you lay out a plan for these urology surgeons? After all, the medical executive committee (MEC) of your hospital is held accountable to fulfill the OPPE requirements. If these two surgeons continue to have post-operative patients with infections, the MEC will determine what happens next. The MEC is committed to reducing patient harm and, specifically, they are committed to having an active OPPE process to drive quality improvements.
Prompt
Write a memo that is to be shared with the MEC. This memo will discuss the evaluation methods that could be employed to address the situation described in the scenario. Use at least two scholarly sources to support your claims.
Specifically, you must address the following rubric criteria:
Evaluation methods at 3, 6, and 12 months: Recommend evaluation methods for reducing infection rates as a quality improvement initiative at 3, 6, and 12 months.
Justify an evaluation method: Justify an evaluation method for healthcare quality improvement initiative at 3, 6, and 12 months after initiative launch.
Why evaluation methods change: Discusses how evaluation methods for healthcare quality improvement initiatives should change over time, depending on the change of infection rates over time.
Guidelines for Submission
Submit this assignment as a 3- to 4-page, double-spaced memo. You should cite at least two sources. Sources should be cited according to APA style.

2. What is the purpose of using regression analysis? How might a regression analysis be used to formulate strategies? Provide examples related to strategy formulation and implementation.
3. What is a scatter diagram?
4. If you look at break-even calculations, scatter plots for estimating demand information, and trends in revenue. In each of these, you can simplify the analysis to a straight line. This is useful, but sometimes these data are more complex. They may be a curved line, or instead of there being only one item for the slope, such as with variable costs, there may be several factors involved in the estimate. Demand, for example, may be based on price, convenience, or quality. How does a linear regression allow you to better estimate trends, costs, and other factors in complex situations?
