Prepare a 6-8 (not including title and reference) slide presentation that uses storytelling to explain data and make recommendations.
Storytelling is a valuable tool in all aspects of life, whether professional or personal. This is certainly true for human resource management. The best information in the world is meaningless if you are unable to effectively convey it. Storytelling can be used to engage an audience, convey information, and persuade. It can be used to illustrate complex concepts and emotions. In the ever-more significant field of HR, storytelling can positively impact your leadership position.
Note: For this assignment, you will use the executive summary you created for your second assignment, HR Challenge: Data for Decision Making: Measuring Organizational Performance.

Does it change with years of service?

EACH DISCUSSION SHOULD BE LESS THAN 100 WORDS
Discussion(3):
Hi Class, Healthcare costs are rising and hurting the bottom line of all U.S. companies, and some are trying to absorb some of the costs. Currently, health insurance costs US businesses more than $450 billion annually – about 13 cents per every dollar wage earned. Since the Affordable Healthcare Act is in effect, how has it affected your healthcare options?
How have your company’s benefits changed since the Act went into effect? Are there more healthcare options available where you work?
Discussion(4):
Hi Class, Retirement benefits are valuable to everyone and are an important part of a total rewards package for an employee. The Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) of 1974 defines employee vesting rights (right to pension benefits even if one leaves the company), enables pension rights to be portable, sets up Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC) (claims corporate assets to cover inadequately funded pension plans) and requires Summary Plan Description (SPD) (explanation of benefits in “plain” language).
A defined contribution plan is when the employee and the employer may contribute based on rules established for contribution. The amount of benefits depends on the success of account investments.
What type of retirement benefit does your employer provide? Does your employer provide a match contribution? Do you think it is generous? Please explain your responses.
Discussion(5): Hi Class, Are any benefits offered at your company that is not offered anywhere else? Besides health, dental, and retirement, there are many other benefits, such as vision care, life insurance, and flexible spending accounts. In Florida, state employees are offered additional insurance such as cancer insurance and hospitalization insurance. Are there some products that you have seen where you work?
I used to work for an organization many years ago that offered pet and auto insurance discounts. There are many benefit products out there that can be offered to employees. As HR professionals, conduct some research or consult an HR professional association (i.e., SHRM, World at Work, etc.) because you never know what you will need to entice employees or potential employees to work at your company.
Discussion(6): Hi Class, Worker’s compensation is just one of the five legally required benefits that must be provided to all employees.
What are the other four legally required benefits?
Describe the five legally required benefits and explain why you think they are legally required benefits.
Discussion(7): Hi Class, do you expect to collect Social Security benefits when you retire? Why or why not?
Discussion(8): Time off is an important component of any total rewards package. There have been countless articles and studies on how important it is to take time off. However, workers sacrifice taking time off because they believe it will change managers’ perception that their employees are not career-focused. That attitude is changing. Since 2016, American workers are starting to take more time off than in years past.
Nowadays, employees change their vacation policies to rollover plans rather than use or lose them.
What is your organization’s vacation policy? Is it a rollover plan or a use it or lose it plan? How many vacation days do you earn a year? Does it change with years of service?
Discussion(9): Hi Class, Many employers are changing their medical plans and using containment specialists to reduce health care costs. Also, consumer education is among the most important initiatives in health administration. Employees must know the costs of healthy choices to make better decisions. More employers require employees to pay higher premiums and co-payments. Clinical prevention programs include mammograms, immunizations, and routine checkups. Wellness programs, claim audits, and other options, are discussed.
A trend that I have seen many employers adopting is a wellness program. A wellness program is designed to promote good health and safety in the community. Some examples are discounts on gym fees, weight loss programs, and smoking cessation programs.
Organizations today are adopting a smoke-free environment to help staff stop smoking. Smoking cessation classes are offered to help those who want to quit. Also, some organizations introduce a weight watchers program, which offers to help staff to lose weight.
Every wellness initiative will help employees with battling diseases, reducing healthcare costs for both the employee and the employer.
Does your employer have an established wellness program? What types of programs are offered? Do you think it promotes a healthy work environment?
Discussion(10): Hi Class, Many organizations are concerned about the rising cost of employee benefits and question their value to the organization and employees.
In your opinion, what benefits are of the greatest value to employees? To the organization? Why?
Discussion(11): Hi Class, Please read the following statement: “U.S. executives earn every dollar of their pay. People complaining about these people earning millions are just envious that they are not being paid at that level.”
Build an argument for or against this statement.
Discussion(12): Hi Class, Before accepting a new job, do you look at the benefits offered before accepting? Do you consider the employee contribution amount part of your employment decision? Do you think it should be? Why or why not?
Please share your thought and/or experiences with the class.
In what ways has your organization changbcied in terms of remote work?

This week we will be focusing on deciding on the final hire, developing and issuing a job offer, and negotiating the terms of the contract.

Before beginning this assignment, please read Chapter 11 in the textbook and the Week Six video mixes included in the Videos Folder in this module.
Assignment #2 (Week Six)
Please review the grading rubric carefully before answering the questions.
We have now come to the end of our quest for talent. This week we will be focusing on deciding on the final hire, developing and issuing a job offer, and negotiating the terms of the contract.
The Job Offer Letter – Read the McDonald’s vignette in Strategic Exercise #1 on page 472 in the 5th edition of your textbook. Carefully think about what should be included in the offer letter based on what you are trying to achieve. Then, using the information from the “Intro to Week Six Video” and Chapter 11 in your textbook, complete the following:
Describe the goals of the offer letter based on the vignette and what you know of McDonald’s.
Develop a comprehensive, well-written offer letter for Pat Edwards that incorporates all necessary job offer components discussed in the intro video (including an employment-at-will clause) that meets the hiring goals.
Not only do you need to be sure that the letter contains all of the necessary information, but it must also be in the correct professional format. For more on this, as well as an example, please see the following website: https://owl.purdue.edu/owl/subject_specific_writing/professional_technical_writing/basic_business_letters/index.htmlLinks to an external site.
2. Read the case study “Hiring FBI Agents” on pages 473-474 of your textbook.
First, thoroughly address the three questions at the end of the case (p. 474).
Next, answer the following question,” If you were a consultant, how would you suggest the FBI improve its process?” (As this is a graduate-level course, this will take some thought, development, and supporbcit, not just one or two sentences.)
