What your final report should include:
1) A summary of the key aspects of the case. Specifically, you should identify what problems
need solving. As a forensic anthropologist, how can you contribute to solving these problems?
You should base what is possible to answer in your chosen case by the following criteria:
1. Are the remains human?
2. Are the remains from one person or many?
3. When did the death occur?
4. Are the remains modern (of medico-legal significance)?
5. What was the HanihaRA ancestry (include the program’s output)?
6. What was their assigned-at-birth sex?
7. How old was the decedent?
8. What was the decedent’s stature?
9. Does the body contain signs of anomalies that can be used to provide positive identification?
10. What was the cause of death?
11. What was the manner of death?
Include specific and detailed analysis of the evidence provided in the assignment for each
of these criteria. If no evidence is provided, identify what evidence would be needed (ideally) to
make these determinations.
2) After the key problems to be solved in the case are identified, you should use class materials
and researched sources to build an argument for how you would “solve” this case.
In some cases, I will provide information (metric measurements, photos, or descriptive evidence)
relating to the identity or biological profile of the individual(s). In these cases, you should use
that information to come up with the correct answers (e.g., estimate sex, age, etc.). You should
also consider all topics outlined in the template and determine if and how they apply to your
case. This includes excavation and collection, demographic assessments, trauma assessment,
cause and manner of death, etc. In your analysis, you should be cognizant of the limits of the
case and provide qualifying statements if you think they are necessary. For example, if the case
implicates post-mortem damage due to a particular taphonomic source, this damage should be
considered in how it could affect your analysis of the skeletal remains.
3) The case report should conclude with a clear summary and conclusion to your results and any
information about the individual(s) you ascertained, as well as what information could not be
answered given the information at hand.
Format: Your report must be 2-4 single-spaced pages (12pt font), not including your works
cited page(s), charts, images, or figures!
Keeping this short will be challenging– one of the most difficult aspects of good writing is to
know how to express your ideas and thoughts succinctly, and to learn what to include and what
not to include while still making your point. Refrain from including too much personal
unsupported comment in your critical evaluation. Your critical evaluation is to be informed based
on supporting research. (Please see the provided examples for a sense of writing style). Read and

Organization:
Organize your report following the template I’ve provided on our course site.
Sources:
You must use and cite at least 5 sources in this final paper. These must be peer-reviewed, this
means the textbook does not count!! You may use any extra (non-textbook) readings assigned
for class (or included in those extra reference folders on our course site). In particular, you will
want to cite the methods used for analysis (see those folders for sex, age, stature) on our course
site.
Citation Format:
Your bibliographic style should follow APA style and must include all pertinent
publication information (authors names, year of publication, title of journal article or book
chapter, title of journal or book, journal volume, page numbers, book publisher and city of
publisher, etc.).. Only include in your bibliography sources you have directly cited in your
paper, if you think you need a source in your bibliography but haven’t cited it — consider where
you should add that in-text citation!
You must use in-text citations and they must include the author and the year of publication:
(ie. Dao 2010; or Garcia and Rosado 2015 if there are two authors; or Smith et al. 1990 in the
case of multiple authors on one publication). You do not need to include page numbers unless
you have used a direct quote (very unlikely).
Use the following format to cite references in the body of the text:
1. Example of a citation if the authors name is not included in the text and the reference is
not a specific quotation:
…Muscle markings on the proximal aspect of the humerus were found equally in both males
and females from the Indian Knoll population (Smith 1990).
2. Example of a citation if the authors name is included in the text and the reference is to a
specific quote:
…Smith (1990:12) states that “the markings appear equally distributed between the sexes”…
3. Example of a citation if the authors name is included and is referring to another author
and general reference:
Smith (1990) has noted that Roberts’ (1967) study fails to consider the sexes separately.

Why Creation is wrong:
I will mostly be using astronomy and some geology to prove creation wrong. Creation explains how the universe came to be in a supernatural way without using any scientific evidence to back it up. Creationists often use the Bible to back up their beliefs and are made up of mostly Christians. Not all Christians believes in creation though. According to their beliefs In Genesis the Lord spoke the universe into existence between 6-8 thousand years ago. Their beliefs are mostly based on faith so whenever something doesn’t make since they can just say that God did it. Which our beliefs as nationalist (evolutionists) try to explain how the universe came to be that obeys the laws of physics. There are a lot of evidence that supports the “Big Bang Theory” and perhaps the best explanation of how the universe came to be. The universe is very strange and extreme, meaning it’s hard to prove in a lab and remake a big bang explosion creating everything. The mass of celestial objects are too great to recreate to prove them right, even if we take 1 millionth of the mass of an object it make be very different because the celestial object could have an exponential growth. Astronomy is a very difficult subject because most of Astronomy is based on theories, and those theories are constantly changing. Creationists believe God created the universe that obeys the laws of physics but believe the universe from supernaturaling? That doesn’t much sense.

Sexual assault evidence is fragile, and can quickly deteriorate and become contaminated. Therefore, it is important to know the methods that are used to collect and preserve sexual assault evidence. Read the following case, and answer the questions to review some of the concepts related to the collection and preservation of sexual assault evidence.
Case
A 30-year-old female who lives alone in a one-story apartment reported being raped. The victim made the following statements:
She was awakened during the night by a white male who was pulling the covers down near her feet. The perpetrator was wearing a red t-shirt, and had his pants and underwear pulled down around his ankles. The perpetrator has a short beard and long greasy black hair which smelled like smoke. During the rape the perpetrator grabbed the head board of the bed and used it as leverage to hold her in position under him. The perpetrator was perspiring heavily, and wiped his face on her pillow. She said she sleeps nude and that the perpetrator ejaculated inside her then rubbed his penis on her sheet when he withdrew.
Refer to this case and create a report in Microsoft Word document that includes the following:
Identify a list of all possible trace, biological and fingerprint evidence you would expect to find at the scene and explain the key locations where the evidence is most likely to be found.
Explain the various methods used to gather sexual assault evidence concentrating on trace, biological and fingerprint evidence.
Describe the precautions that should be taken when collecting and preserving sexual assault evidence.
Explain the importance of DNA evidence, and where that evidence might be found.

OVERVIEW
What Is an Annotated Bibliography? An annotated bibliography is a list of citations to books,
articles, and documents. Each citation is followed by a brief (usually about 150-250 words)
descriptive and evaluative paragraph, the annotation. The purpose of the annotation is to inform
the reader of the relevance, accuracy, and quality of the sources cited.
The Process Creating an annotated bibliography calls for the application of a variety of
intellectual skills: concise exposition, succinct analysis, and informed library research. First,
locate and record citations to books, periodicals, and documents that may contain useful
information and ideas on your topic. Briefly examine and review the actual items. Then choose
those works that provide a variety of perspectives on your topic.
Cite the article using APA style. Write a concise annotation that summarizes the central theme
and scope of the article. Include one or more sentences that (a) evaluate the authority or
background of the author, (b) comment on the intended audience, (c) compare or contrast this
work with another you have cited, or (d) explain how this work illuminates your bibliography
topic.
