It is essential to take the following into account in order to do well on this assignment!
1. YOU MUST USE THIS GOOGLE DOC TO DO THE ASSIGNMENT. Open the document and
save it as LAST NAME IN ALL CAPS, First Name – Geography in the News Assignment.
2. When submitting the assignment to BB, you MUST SUBMIT IT AS A PDF OR Word
DOCUMENT.
3. You must base your assignment on the “Geography in the News” model below. Make sure to
number and put in chronological order from first to last published.
4. The publication date of the articles must be between May 27, 2022 and July 20, 2022.
5. No more than one article per day of publication is allowed. This means, for example, that you
cannot find 10 articles published on July 20 and turn them in for credit.
6. AP/Reuters/Bloomberg News articles, Op-Eds, opinion articles, and editorials are not allowed.
7. You may apply the same geographical approach to no more than two articles.
8. In your “A few things I learned”: This should be IN YOUR OWN WORDS and related to
something that the reader can actually learn from the article.
9. You must submit your final assignment to Blackboard as either a MS Word document or PDF.
10.For an example of a PERFECT ASSIGNMENT, see Content > Geography in the News
Assignment folder.
11.Remember that NOT ALL New York Times articles are geographic! Only select ones that are

Geography in the News Model
(Each of your ten geographic articles should look IDENTICAL to this example! There is no need to submit the actual article when you submit your assignment!)
1. Rachel Knowles, Frances Robles, and Elisabeth Malkin, “In Bahamas, Hurricane Cripples Rescue
Efforts,” New York Times, September 4, 2019.
● How related to a geographical approach: The article, through its discussion of the impact of Hurricane
Dorian on The Bahamas, is related to “How physical systems affect human systems.”
● A few things that I learned:
○ Temporary sea rise (called a “storm surge”) is the main thing that will kill people in a hurricane.
○ The northwestern Bahamas were hit with up to 30 feet of water from the storm surge and waves.
○ Hurricane Dorian is one of the biggest hurricanes to hit The Bahamas.
● 2-10 should look identical to number 1 in format! For a previous student’s assignment on which she
scored a 100%, see Blackboard > Content > Assignments > Geography in the News Assignment >
Example of a Perfect Geography in the News Assignment.
HERE IS A LIST OF GEOGRAPHIC APPROACHES THAT YOU CAN CONNECT TO THE GEOGRAPHIC
ARTICLES THAT YOU FIND:
● The human characteristics of places.
● The use of maps to report information from a spatial perspective.
● The use of regional terms to explain a phenomenon.
● The migration of human populations on Earth’s surface.
● The patterns of economic interdependence on Earth’s surface.
● How the forces of cooperation and conflict among people influence the division and control of
Earth’s surface.
● How human actions modify the physical environment.
● How physical systems affect human systems.
● The changes that occur in the meaning, use, distribution, and importance of resources.

Include an introduction paragraph to the paper which ends with a thesis statement. The thesis statement should clearly tell the reader what your paper will discuss.
2. Attitude of Inquiry (3 points)
Describe the nursing meta-paradigm. How do the meta-paradigm elements connect to the elements/parts of PICO questions?
What is a phenomenon of interest (POI)?
Identify the POI that you are investigating.
Using the selected phenomenon of interest, write a PICO/PICo question
Identify each element from your question: P (population), I (intervention), C (comparison), and O (outcome); or P (population), I (phenomenon of interest), Co (context).
3. Searching the Evidence (3 points)
Using your PICO/PICo (keywords and phrases), perform a literature search.
Describe the types of evidence (studies) you found and what you learned from performing the search (Ex: were their more types of one study than another, very limited research if you narrowed too much, too broad with your search terms, etc.).
Identify the key words and phrases from the PICO/PICo you created which were used to search the evidence.
Describe the tools, filters, and/or limits that were used to broaden/narrow your search (MeSH subject headings, Boolean operators, truncation- be specific).
Describe at least two (2) bibliographic databases that were used in the search (name, brief history, and what makes it unique).
4. Article Synopsis (3 points)
Provide at least two (2) examples of current (< 5 years) articles related to your PICO/PICo. For each article, describe/explain the type of research used (qualitative, quantitative, design) and support with reference(s). Provide a brief synopsis of each article (minimum of 3-5 sentences) and cite appropriately. 5. Must include the following: at least two (2) databases used, search terms (from your PICO/PICo), results (how many articles you found), any MeSH or Boolean operators used, filters and/or limits you used. The "new results" section should end up indicating a reasonable number of results that one could easily sift through. See example below. Example Only: Database Search terms (key words) Hits-Results MeSH, Boolean operators, filters and limits (specify what was used) New Results OVID Pediatric Obesity 12,742 MeSH-Complications Year 2018-2022 13 CINAHL Pediatric Obesity AND complications 1497 Limits-full text Year 2016-2022 English only ADD EBP and Peer Reviewed 58 Scholarship (3 points): Use required APA paper template, organizing work by headings. Working independently, students present a power point slide presentation with audio narration that pertains to one of the individual therapy theory listed below. You are not restricted to this list, but should seek instructor approval to present on a different theorist. After providing a brief overview of the main components of the theory, and evidence for its utility with certain populations, include a brief case study that demonstrates application of the therapy. It will be uploaded to the Canvas site for review by your peers, power point is preferred for the presentation. The presentation will be 8-10 minutes long and involve evidence based research. Students will have another week to review and submit a peer review, students need to review all of your peer’s presentations, if this is not done, will have a negative impact on your grade for your presentation.
6) Reality: this is the topic the instructor assign me to.
Presentation should include the following information:
1) Contributing Theorist
2) Key Concepts of Theory
3) The Therapeutic Process
4) Therapeutic Techniques
5) Evaluation
6) Advantages/Limitations
7) Multicultural Limitations
8) References
It should be presented in a “power point” format with accompanying verbal presentation.
